Tip of the Week
My tip of the week this week is have a clear out of your bathroom cabinet. How many medicines have you got that are well, well past their date? Whilst you are at it, read the ingredients and see if there is more natural alternative. Have you tried Chinese herbs? We use them for all colds etc.
I am away working for a week so may not get a chance to update the blog much. The week includes my first trip on the Eurostar (having worked for an airline for so long you tend not to use it!) which I am looking forward to. To Brussels with a lower impact to the environment!

Hello Russell,
A quick note from me again. If you do have out of date medicines, please do not throw them in the bin or flush them down the toilet. If you do this, there is a risk that they will have unwanted ecological effects, especially in the case of antibiotics, but it is also a problem for other drugs. Instead, please take them to your pharmacist, who will be able to dispose of them safely for you.
Have fun in Brussels.

Oh yes, I forgot to say that. I read a horrible report once on how much chemicals got in to tap water from people throwing away medicines down the toilet....

My suggestion to clearing out the bathroom cabinet is to not replace all the common medicinal remedies one would normally buy to then go out of date again in a few years time. Instead, buy a book called '1001 Home Remedies', you'll be surprised to find how many potential solutions for common ailments and injuries you already have to hand elsewhere in the home and garden.

This is a tip of the week. Earth day is very important to me and I did my part to show my support for a cleaner environment.
Following Earth Day, I am still trying to find some easy, simple things I can do to help stop global warming. Have you seen the www.EarthLab.com is promoting their Earth Day (month) challenge, with the goal to get 1 million people to take their carbon footprint test in April? I took the test, it was easy and only took me about 2 minutes and I am planning on lowering my score with some of their tips.
I am always looking for places to find more tips for living more environmentally friendly. If you know of any other sites worth my time let me know.
